From Pirates to Rum Runners

6:30 pm to 7:30 pm: Join historian, author and former Newsday reporter Bill Bleyer to learn why pirates like Captain Kidd were attracted to Long Island at the turn of the 18th century and learn why Long Island was so attractive to bootleggers during Prohibition and was frequented by bootleggers like William “The Real McCoy” McCoy who supplied gangsters like Al Capone and Dutch Schultz. Limited occupancy, donations accepted.

7:45 pm: Watch the sunset from a new perspective, at the top of the Fire Island Lighthouse. Bring a flashlight for your walk back to the parking field. $15 for FILPS members/$25 for non-members. Reservations Required. Sunset 8:21 pm.
